I went to see the Dumb Waiter and thought it was great. The acting was amazing, really outstanding. hubby had to keep nudging me when I was watching Jason when it was Lee doing the acting.
Once the play
finished, I was off to the stage door before I'd whipped my glasses off and put
them back in their case. At the stage door (we were the last ones to arrive
there), there was a girl called Charlotte and her boyfriend, two other girls and
one bloke. I think the two girls had been there on a previous night as they were
holding photos of them with Jason and Lee. So it was a nice small number of 7
people.
We got chatting with Charlotte and her boyfriend. It had been her 19th birthday
a few days before, so the play was a birthday present for her too! She was also
there for Jason. It was quite uncanny really, we were so alike with everything.
We love the Tudors, became fans of Jason the same way (the Peter Pan dvd
extras), and just other little things that kept us chatting while we were
waiting. Like from the other accounts I heard, it took Jason half an hour to
come out.
Both Lee and Jason came out together! There was a couple there too who knew
Jason, they'd gone in a few minutes before and came out, chatting, with him.
Everyone sort of left Jason while he finished chatting with the couple, and
bless him, he did sign one of the girls' photos and the bloke's programme while
he chatted, AND actually apologised for chatting.
Then
once he finished signing and handed my book back, hubby, like the amazing and
understanding husband that he is, made my dream of meeting Jason even better and
said to him, 'Now, Emma's not going to tell you, so I will. Today is her
birthday and I think you would just completely make her year if you gave her a
birthday kiss!' Jason laughed and replied, 'ooo, I don't know, my missus told me
not to kiss anyone if they ask.' So as always, hubby was on the mark and said,
'Ah, but I'm doing the asking, and you're not likely to kiss me, are you?' Jason
laughed and said true. Then Jason asked me how old I was (honestly...asking a
lady her age?!). I told him and he just went, 'Cor! What I'd give to be 22
again!' Then...*takes a breath*...he says, 'Shall we get this kiss on camera
then?' He was actually going to give me a birthday kiss!
Just as Jason kissed my cheek the first time, hubby had clicked the button too
soon, and so because it wasn't our proper camera we had, just our normal digital
one, it took a while to load up again. So there was one kiss!
Hubby clicking the button too soon:
Then Jason kissed me again and Paul said 'Hang on, camera's not ready!' Jason took a step back and laughed. Finally, camera was ready! And this was the product!
Can you
believe it? I know I still can't!!! Jason then truly thanked me for coming, said
happy birthday to me, whacked my back a little too hard and said it was great
meeting me! Then hubby made Charlotte's dream come true and explained to Jason
that it had been her birthday a few days before and could she get a birthday
kiss too! *goes warm with love for the understanding hubby!!!* I didn't see what
happened with that, I think I was in a daze.
I quickly grabbed Lee for a photo too. On the first attempt, Lee's mouth was
open and I had the oddest facial expression going on. I blame hubby for clicking
too early again. Hubby said, 'I'm taking it again, your gob was open, Lee.' Lee
blamed Jason because he was talking to him. We got the photo on the second try.
After
the photo was taken, Lee asked for my name and then said, 'Well, Emma, it was
really lovely to meet you, and thank you so much for coming to the show!' Then
they both had to go because they had to go to a Student Bar thing. Bless 'em,
they had to go through the front entrance to get to it and had only come out the
stage door to sign for us!
And that was my Jason encounter. I couldn't have asked for it to be any better
than this. But it does! I got more tickets to see the show again next month on
the 22nd of March!
I hope you all enjoyed reading about this as much as I enjoyed writing about it
and re-living it all again!
